East Texas Artist, Western Painter, Howard Dubois

Following his tour of duty in the Army, back in the '60s, Howard Dubois sought out "the cowboy life". His enjoyment of rural living gave him a solid foundation on which to build his artistic career. What began with weekend art shows, has now become his full-time occupation.

Howard has an active schedule traveling to art shows. His current line-up includes trips to Arlington, Kerrville, New Mexico, and thankfully, Mineola and Edom. He will be in Mineola during their May Day celebration, coming up May 8 and 9. Seeing his art work, live and in person, would certainly be a pleasure.

King No. 2. We're hoping to have an online art show right here. If you're an East Texas artist, please join in on this online project.
"King No. 2"
Artist, Howard Dubois

Mr. Dubois has a wide range of subject matter and artistic mediums. While he prefers oil on canvas, he has beautiful artwork in watercolor, and also pencil. And while he has mastered the structure and muscular details of dogs, cattle, and horses, his works of old cars, tired barns, and rodeo arenas have a flavor - and flair - all their own.

You can read more about East Texas artist, Howard Dubois here, and also view a few more paintings. To visit his website, click here.

Golden Rules for Audiences at the Symphony, Ballet, Plays, or other Artistic Performances:

  • Go easy with the atomizer; many people are highly allergic to perfumes and colognes.
  • If you bring a child, make sure etiquette is a part of the experience. Children love learning new things.
  • Unwrap all candies and cough drops before production begins. (No food or drink)
  • Make sure cell phones, beepers, and watch alarms are OFF...and don't jangle the bangles.
  • The overture is part of the performance. Please cease talking at this point.
  • Note to lovebirds: When you lean your heads together, you block the view of the person behind you. Leaning forwards also blocks the view.
  • THOU SHALT NOT TALK, or whisper, or hum, or sing along, or beat time with a body part.
  • Force yourself to wait for a pause or intermission before filing through a purse or bag.
  • Yes, the parking lot gets busy and public transportation is tricky, but leaving while the performance is in progress is discourteous.
  • The old stand-by: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
(taken from programs of the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas and Lincoln Center in New York City)

Basically, don't do anything that makes people notice you rather than the performance.
