So, Exactly What is Local Search?

Right

So, have you ever tried to find something local online? It's typically A ROYAL PAIN. You can get a little information here, a little there, none over there, a piece here and there. Who has time for all of that searching? It's very frustrating.

Actually, that's how GotLongview.com began. I had had numerous occasions where I was trying to find local information online, and all I seemed to accomplish was to get myself incredibly frustrated. Amidst the heightened frustration, I had this little epiphany. Why doesn't someone make a website for just local stuff so that we don't have to sift through the entire WORLD in order to find something that is just around the corner? And so began GotLongview.com.

Truly Local

After searching high and low, I have found a number of so-called "local search" sites. Oddly, they do not even originate from Texas, much less Longview itself. Most have some basic city statistical information, and a few business listings - typically 15, 20 or so. Beyond that, the information is scarce. That just doesn't seem quite right to me.

GotLongview.com houses over 10,000 local businesses in a categorized, easy to use Business Directory, very similar to the yellow pages online. But GotLongview offers so much more. Besides searching for a local business, we give people plenty of other reasons to be visiting the site too. In addition to the directory, you'll also find local links, community events, local music, local art, interesting articles, and a host of other local (and non-local) information.

Our added content allows businesses to receive extra exposure. Since Gold Listed advertisers are rotated on the homepage, plus written about in our blog ["From Out of the Woods"], and also featured in articles, a business can receive added exposure that they will not get with other local search sites.

Why place so much emphasis on this local area? It is our home. We live and work right here in Longview, Texas.
