Discover East Texas Music - Independent, Authentic, Diverse
Feature Band: Last Call Outlaws
Performing at the 60th Annual Gregg County Fair & Exposition Show from 9:30-10:15, Wednesday night, Sept. 9, 2009, at the Fairgrounds. Get Directions.
The best description of the musical
attitude and style of this band can be summed up by the phrase, "Old-school Country". When you hear them play, it’s
hard to miss this band’s biggest country influences; such as, Johnny
Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Buck Owens,
and Patsy Cline.
During live shows, the band offers up a mix
of modern country, classic country, Texas rock, and original songs,
always incorporating varying tempos and styles to keep the dancing
crowd on their toes. Some crowd favorites include “Folsom
Prison Blues”, “Seminole Wind”, “I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink"and “Texas When I Die.”
They’re just as capable of performing
Texas artist hits such as Kevin Fowler’s “Ain’t Drinkin’
Anymore” as they are of belting out Haggard’s “Workin’
Man Blues.” This band is all about entertaining, having a
great time, and bringing the crowd into the experience with them.
Todd Bonner and Beth Matlock are the
two originators and lead vocals of this Longview, Texas based band.
While playing in a late night patio jam session in Longview, Bonner
and Matlock met up and began singin’ and pickin’ at various local
venues together – Bonner on guitar and Matlock adding fiddle and
mandolin to the mix. Not long after, they added Justin Bonner (also
from Longview) on drums. The trio continued playing local gigs while
searching for other band members who shared their same passion for
classic country music. It wasn’t long before they attracted Jimmy
Quinn (Jacksonville) on bass and David Day on rhythm (Lufkin), who
also shares some of the vocal load. The culmination of talent in
this band truly represents a wide range of East Texas towns, giving
crowds a true Texas sound that’s hard to beat!

Hey!
Who Put All This Music in Our Backyard?
East Texas is blessed with an incredibly rich local music
scene. Here at GotLongview, we want to help local musicians get
heard, and develop a fan base right here at home. While the
internet has become a marketing marvel for independent
musicians to have their music heard around the world, it is
still no substitute for loyal hometown fans.
With the
advent of Myspace and numerous independent music sites, more
and more people are developing an interest in music that is not
part of the Billboard Top 40. It has now become vogue to find
the obscure.
Our hope is to help
bring awareness to the outstanding music scene right here in
our own backyard. And, hopefully, to encourage local businesses
of all types to take a look at the benefits of hosting a live
music venue. Music isn't just for bars and churches! Give it
some thought, and consider what live music could do for your
business.
There's a whole lot of music going on all throughout East Texas, but especially at the Gregg County Fair & Exposition Show. There's a great line-up of live music every single night.
Plus, lots of local bands have gigs at various clubs in Longview, and throughout the Piney Woods region.
